LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE

09-11-2026

Ed Ellis, Bill DiLuigi 888 KING MUSIC SESAC
FSUSA Marion, IL Retreat

(Verse)
From the time I was small I thought I was born to serve
It was in my DNA
My daddy and my brother wore OD green defending this USA
Didn’t know the Air Force was in the cards
But at 17 I went to do my part
Took the faith and the hope that was passed down to me
Far from that small town I wanted to leave

(Chorus)
To love God, love people
Shine a light wherever it’s needed
A tent in the desert
Or underneath a steeple
Love, God, love people

Lost my mom and dad at 18
For a while I slipped into the deep end
Thank a backslidden believer
Half-drunk gospel preacher
Pulling me back again
We all fall down we all need help
And God’s grace is too good to keep for myself
From Kandahar, Kuwait to Bahrain, I said his name I wasn’t ashamed

(Chorus)
To love God, love people
Shine a light wherever it’s needed
A tent in the desert
Or underneath a steeple
Love, God, love people

(Bridge)
I have so many blessings
3 kids and a beautiful wife
I wanna give back all I’ve been given
In this heaven-sent beautiful life

(Chorus)
To love God, love people
Shine a light wherever it’s needed
Take to the world
What I learned underneath a steeple
Love, God, love people
